Lead and contribute to all phases of healthcare projects, including programming, planning, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration Serve as a client-facing leader, participating in and often leading user group meetings, stakeholder workshops, and design presentations Translate clinical and operational needs into clear, functional, and buildable architectural solutionsCoordinate with internal disciplines and external consultants to ensure seamless integration of architecture, engineering, and interior designApply strong knowledge of healthcare regulations and codes (FGI Guidelines, IBC, accessibility standards) to support compliant, safe, and efficient facilities Lead or support Quality Assurance and Quality Control reviews to maintain high standards of accuracy, constructability, and design intent Mentor and support less-experienced staff, contributing to a culture of learning and continuous improvement Contribute to proposal development, interviews, and client pursuits as part of growing Shive-Hattery’s healthcare practice Assisting with project management to develop the project plan, structure the team and assignments, and ensure deliverables Opportunity to work on high-impact healthcare projects across Iowa and the Midwest, including community hospitals, academic medical centers, and specialty care facilitiesStrong emphasis on developing client relationships and long-term partnershipsA collaborative culture that values professional growth, leadership development, and work-life integrationThe ability to influence how healthcare architecture is practiced within the firm and region Requirements You’ll contribute to meaningful projects guided by our principle to design what matters and make our world a better place.
