THE POSITION
As an Architectural Designer 1 with the Department of Labor & Industry, you will play a vital role in designing, updating, and organizing important state-owned and leased spaces. This position provides opportunities to learn architectural processes, collaborate with professionals, and support renovation planning. You will assist in creating layouts and reviewing project details that help improve agency operations. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position supports the design and renovation of state-owned and leased facilities by preparing plans, coordinating project activities, and assisting with architectural processes. As an Architectural Designer 1, you will perform the following duties:
Project Coordination: Assist with renovation projects, attend design meetings, and participate in site visits
Plan Preparation: Prepare floor plans and specifications for minor projects and ensure work complies with requirements
Layout Design: Create office layouts using AutoCAD and assist with preparing documents for leased facility projects
Interagency Collaboration: Coordinate with lessors, contractors, architects, engineers, DGS, and program offices
Facility Support: Work with maintenance staff on L and I Building renovations and assist with disposition of unneeded facilities
Plan Management: Maintain electronic building plans and convert hard copy plans into CAD format

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Successful completion of the training program for an Architectural Designer Trainee; or
One year of professional architectural experience which involved designing components of commercial, institutional, or educational buildings or structures, and a bachelor's degree in architecture or architectural engineering or a closely related field which included major course work in architectural design; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training in architectural design work.
