Job Summary: The architectural designer is responsible for the creative design of architecture for facilities, attraction concepts, master plans, set designs, and detail design. The role will generate and iterate freehand sketches to 2D, 3D, and rendering software. Design facilities and site plans that integrate existing or to-be-developed creative intent.Develop architectural concepts from high-level hand sketch concepts and isometric sketching to schematic level computer generated 2D and 3D documentation.Design facilities, sites, and masterplans that integrate existing creative intent or develop new intent.Advance conceptual design rough hand sketches to presentation level in refined hand sketches, 2D plans, and 3D models.Assists in research for design references, materials, and products.Check architectural design drawings, plans, programs, specifications, and reports.Supervise the implementation of design from both internal and external design consultants.Quick hand sketching ability to design multiple floorplans, sections, façades, and 3D concepts for review with design team.Design fully rendered views of architecture and integrated site components.Integrate with master planning and landscape teams (both internal and external) to create a cohesive set of drawings.Collaborate with attraction designers to assist in the design of interior and show set designs as needed.Project ManagementPlan, execute, and monitor projects.Develop detailed project schedules, milestones, and timelines related to architectural design.Assemble documentation into a presentation and be able to present internally and/or in front of clients and stakeholders.Communication and CollaborationCollaborate with various departments and stakeholders to ensure alignment and effective communication.Facilitate meetings, presentations, and discussions to share plans, progress, and updates.Address any issues or roadblocks that may arise during the planning and execution phases. Bachelor’s degree in architecture is preferred.3-5 years of professional experience in creative design for entertainment, theme park projects, and/or attraction designs.Strong architectural and artistic skillset to design guest spaces and communicate creative intent.Ability to sketch, diagram, and otherwise graphically communicate ideas.Work independently on document production and take the lead when necessary, managing multiple project workstreams to ensure milestones and production timelines are met.Proficiency in Rhino, Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, SketchUp, and 3D rendering programs.Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Understanding of traditional architectural design styles and best practices as well as themed architecture design best practices.Understanding of health and safety requirements of facilities and ability to plan and design with them in mind.Knowledge of relevant industry regulations, standards, and practices.Basic knowledge of construction and structural systems and details.Ability to comprehend and interpret building and zoning codes.Excellent analytical and research skills.Analytical and problem-solving skills.High attention to detail.Technically creative and open-minded.A good listener and a creative voice in the office.Excellent oral and written communication.Strong time and project organizational skills.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to participate and lead group discussions.Ability to understand priorities, possess good time management, and manage multiple tasks and schedules.Exemplary work ethic and ability to work independently.
