Alta Architectural Woodwork is a growing architectural millwork company serving the Central Florida market. We specialize in high-quality custom architectural millwork and casework for commercial and residential projects.
We are looking for an experienced Architectural Millwork Drafter to join our team in-house. This position will play an important role in taking architectural designs from plans and concepts through detailed shop drawings and production-ready documentation.
Position Overview
The ideal candidate has strong experience with AutoCAD and Microvellum and understands how architectural millwork is designed, detailed, engineered, and manufactured.
You will work closely with our project management, estimating, engineering, and production teams to develop accurate shop drawings and ensure that projects can be manufactured efficiently and to the required specifications.
This is an in-house position and is not remote.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare detailed architectural millwork and casework shop drawings using AutoCAD and Microvellum.
* Develop production-ready drawings for cabinets, casework, wall panels, reception desks, countertops, and other custom millwork.
* Review architectural drawings, elevations, specifications, and project documents.
* Interpret plans and translate architectural concepts into manufacturable millwork.
* Create accurate dimensions, sections, details, elevations, and construction drawings.
* Coordinate drawings with project managers, designers, engineers, and production personnel.
* Identify potential design, dimensional, or constructability issues before fabrication.
* Make revisions based on field conditions, RFI responses, architect comments, and project changes.
* Ensure drawings are accurate, organized, and meet project requirements.
* Assist with material and hardware coordination when required.
* Maintain organized project files and drawing revisions.
* Follow applicable architectural millwork standards and company procedures.
* Communicate effectively with the shop and production team to ensure drawings accurately reflect what needs to be manufactured.
Required Qualifications
* Previous experience drafting architectural millwork, cabinetry, casework, or custom woodworking.
* Strong proficiency in AutoCAD.
* Experience with Microvellum is required or strongly preferred.
* Ability to read and interpret architectural and construction drawings.
* Strong understanding of dimensions, materials, hardware, joinery, and construction methods.
* Ability to produce accurate and detailed shop drawings.
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
* Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team.
* Good communication and organizational skills.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in a commercial architectural millwork environment.
* Knowledge of AWI (Architectural Woodwork Institute) standards.
* Experience preparing drawings for CNC production.
* Understanding of manufacturing and fabrication processes.
* Experience coordinating with architects, general contractors, designers, and project managers.
* Knowledge of cabinet construction, laminates, veneers, solid surfaces, solid wood, and other architectural millwork materials.
* Experience with field measurements and site conditions.

We are looking for someone who doesn’t simply know how to draw.
The right candidate understands how millwork is actually built.
You should be able to look at a drawing and recognize potential problems before they reach the shop floor. You should understand the relationship between design, materials, hardware, fabrication, installation, and final appearance.

Compensation
Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications.
Compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s experience with architectural millwork, AutoCAD, Microvellum, shop drawings, and manufacturing processes.
