An Architectural Specifications Specialist plays a vital role in the development, writing, editing, and preparation of technical project specifications and project manuals, primarily for healthcare-related architectural projects. This individual will effectively coordinate specifications with drawings and design documents to establish material and installation requirements, while ensuring all information is integrated with the overall firm’s objectives. Collaborate with Project Managers and Architects to create precise specifications for construction documents.Facilitate effective communication and coordination among consultant disciplines during the specification preparation process.Conduct thorough technical investigations of products, materials, and construction methods to inform project specifications.Ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations, including NFPA 285 assemblies and products.Prepare contract conditions, along with general and bidding requirements to guide the project.Develop Preliminary Project Descriptions during the early design phases to set clear project expectations.Review submittals to ensure conformity with contract documents.Assess product substitutions for equivalency, considering product attributes such as lifecycle, sustainability, and risk assessment.Maintain, edit, and develop new standard specification sections and project templates for firm-wide use.Effectively communicate with project teams, clients, and consultants throughout the project duration.Assist project teams with technical details and provide necessary technical insights.Stay updated with the latest information from manufacturers and vendors to enhance specification development.Possess a comprehensive understanding of projects related to healthcare environments.Continuously seek to improve and implement innovative techniques for developing specifications.Exhibit a willingness to listen, communicate efficiently, and collaborate with team members.Provide training and mentoring to junior staff to foster professional development.Work closely with Specifications Team leadership to ensure alignment with firm standards.The Fine Print This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
