Associate Architect and Lab Planner

We are currently seeking an Associate Architect and Lab Planner who will play a pivotal role in laboratory project planning, ensuring the successful design and completion of complex technology facilities. You'll collaborate closely with clients and user groups to accurately capture project requirements and effectively represent our firm.

Key Responsibilities:

Bring technical expertise in laboratory planning and programming for academic research and other technical facilities.Provide leadership in laboratory facility planning, covering programming, design, equipment planning, MEP systems integration, and casework specifications.Conduct meetings to gather program needs and specifications for various laboratory types.Understand clients' program requirements and adhere to their standards to ensure project completion.Assist in the design development and review of laboratory concepts and solutions.Help establish project scope, plans, and services while translating complex ideas into understandable terms for all stakeholders.Partner with project managers and engineers to set project budgets and milestones.Communicate planning concepts effectively through verbal, graphic, and written reports.Create architectural drawings to document planning concepts for construction.Prepare and modify architectural documents including elevations and details.Proactively develop solutions to design and technical challenges in adherence to established standards.Implement quality assurance and control methods throughout project execution.Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.Continuously seek new knowledge in laboratory design and planning.Your mission is to not only support our clients but to foster an inclusive culture where diverse perspectives thrive. Work Environment:

We value collaboration and understand the importance of in-person interactions for cultivating our culture and delivering to clients. Our hybrid working policy allows for flexible work arrangements, enabling you to split your week between office and remote work. Expect on-site collaboration at our Atlanta office approximately two days each week.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, or science; laboratory design certification is preferred.A minimum of 5 years’ experience in architectural design with a focus on technical/laboratory facilities.Experience across all areas of architectural practice, including design documentation and client relationship management.Familiarity with laboratory settings such as cleanrooms, vivaria, bio-containment, and others.US Citizenship preferred.Desired Skills:

A passion for design and an interest in technical facility operations.Knowledge of laboratory-specific regulatory requirements is a plus.Understanding of laboratory planning, design phases, and construction processes preferred.Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, MS Office, Photoshop, and other graphic design tools is advantageous.Strong communication and teamwork skills.Able to meet deadlines effectively and capable of occasional travel, including international trips lasting up to two weeks.Jacobs is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer, welcoming all qualified applicants regardless of their background or identity.
