The Role

As a Project Architect, you will lead projects from early design through construction administration, serving as the primary point of coordination for clients, consultants, and internal teams. You will have meaningful influence over both design direction and technical execution, while mentoring junior staff and contributing to the broader growth of the practice.

Primary Responsibilities Include

Lead projects through all phases: schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and construction administrationManage internal teams and coordinate with external consultantsServe as a primary point of contact for clientsManage, review, and produce schematic, design development, and construction documents for projects of wide-ranging size Oversee project documentation, specifications, and technical detailingEnsure quality control through internal QA/QC processesLead consultant coordination and integration of building systemsDemonstrate creativity, foresight, and professional judgment in solving architectural issuesLead meetings with consultants, clients, and within officeConduct site visits, review submittals, RFIs, and oversee construction progressMentor junior staff and contribute to a collaborative studio environment

Qualifications

NAAB Accredited Architecture Degree (B.Arch or M.Arch)Licensed Architect in Massachusetts (or the ability to obtain licensure in Massachusetts)8–12+ years of experience in professional architectural office environmentsStrong design sensibility with the ability to carry concepts through technical executionExperience leading projects and coordinating consultant teamsWorking knowledge of building codes, specifications, building and engineering systemsInterest in sustainable and resilient design practicesExperience working in the public & institutional realm is preferredProficiency in BIM and standard visualization/documentation toolsExcellent organizational and communications skillsA positive attitude and genuine excitement for design

Preferred: Experience with public or institutional projects; LEED, WELL, or PHIUS accreditation

Compensation

Salary range for this position is $75,000-$95,000 depending on qualifications and experience.

Location:

The office is located in the heart of downtown Northampton, MA. Most staff work in the office every day, but a flexible schedule is an option after 90 days of employment.

Hours

Full-time, 40 hours per week. In person.
