CAD Technician

Description

**Overview**

As an CAD Technician, you will play a crucial role in the estimation of bids by creating accurate and detailed construction drawings and models. Your expertise in computer-aided design (CAD) and drafting will contribute significantly to the successful preparation of bids and enhance the overall efficiency of our construction projects.

**Responsibilities**

**CAD Drafting and Design:**

* Utilize CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) to create precise and detailed construction drawings, plans, and models.
* Develop 2D and 3D drawings that accurately reflect project requirements, specifications, and design intent.
* Collaborate closely with the Sales and Estimating team to understand project scope and requirements.
* Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and material lists based on the construction drawings.

**Drawing Revisions and Updates:**

* Review and revise drawings based on internal and external feedback and markups.
* Ensure that all drawings are up-to-date with the latest changes and revisions.
* Coordinate with the Estimator to incorporate changes into the cost estimation process.

**Drawing Coordination:**

* Work with other internal teams to obtain necessary information for drawing creation and revision.
* Communicate effectively with project stakeholders to resolve questions and design-related issues.
* Collaborate with subcontractors and suppliers to gather relevant design information and integrate it into the drawings.

**Quality Assurance:**

* Conduct thorough checks and reviews of construction drawings to ensure accuracy and adherence to standards.
* Ensure compliance with project specifications, building codes, and regulatory requirements.
* Identify and resolve any design conflicts or discrepancies.

**Documentation Management:**

* Maintain an organized and up-to-date database of construction drawings, plans, and related documents.
* Assist in managing the drawing control process, including tracking revisions and maintaining version control.

**Technical Support:**

* Provide technical assistance to the Sales and Estimating department on drawing-related inquiries and challenges.
* Stay updated on the latest CAD software advancements and techniques to continuously improve skills and knowledge.
* Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and other project-related discussions as required.
