Chief Architect

Responsible for overseeing architectural services in the construction, alteration, and addition of buildings.

Examples of Duties Under administrative direction, performs architectural services required in the construction, alteration, and addition to buildings. Plans, supervises, and directs assigned personnel. Performs other job-related duties as required. Qualifications Architecture: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture from a National Architectureal Accreditation Board (NAAB) accredited four-year college or university; one year of full-time paid experience as a registered Architect; must be a registered Architect in the State of Ohio; valid State of Ohio driver’s license; working knowledge of AutoCAD 2-D and Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of SharePoint and project planning software; strong written and verbal communication; good organizational skills. Building & Housing: Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university; five years of full-time paid experience as a registered Architect or Engineer; experience as a Plans Examiner preferred; must be a registered Architect or Engineer and an interim or full-fledged Plans Examiner; valid State of Ohio driver’s license. Additional Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED; ten years total experience within the AEC industry; valid State of Ohio professional license/registration as an Architect; valid State of Ohio driver’s license; working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Detailed Job Description Able to lead and coordinate the development of assigned projects on behalf of the City of Cleveland, under administrative direction. Strong project management skills with the ability to execute architectural services required for the programming, planning, design, coordination, and construction administration of capital projects both in-house and through outside consulting architects and engineers. Technical skill with an eye for design excellence, sustainability, and resilient maintainability. Strong management of project scope and costs; a well-rounded and versatile professional. Works well within a collaborative and multi-disciplinary professional environment (architecture, engineering, and landscape architecture) that assists stakeholders with navigating construction projects with calm leadership and strong interpersonal communication skills.
