Cloud Architecture Strategist

GovCIO is seeking a talented Cloud Architecture Strategist to lead the design, governance, and enhancement of cloud and network operations that support 24/7 Network Operations Center (NOC) activities. You will translate business and security requirements into a cohesive architecture across on-premises, private clouds, and public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI). This role will focus on driving automation and telemetry while ensuring strong collaboration between the NOC and the Security Operations Center (SOC). This position is fully remote within the United States.

Key Responsibilities

Design and govern comprehensive network, cloud, and infrastructure solutions to facilitate around-the-clock monitoring and incident management.

Establish and maintain reference architectures, standards, and patterns for critical network components.

Create monitoring and observability architectures that integrate network performance and security telemetry, enhancing detection and response times.

Define and oversee the integration of monitoring tools and automation workflows to support NOC and SOC operations.

Embed security practices into operational workflows, ensuring a coordinated approach between NOC and SOC functions.

Architect telemetry and logging pipelines for improved detection and recovery across hybrid environments.

Develop cloud monitoring and management strategies for various cloud providers, ensuring visibility and access control.

Collaborate with vendors and service providers, establishing effective vendor management processes.

Define data models and reporting standards for enhanced situational awareness.

Pioneer network automation and infrastructure as code practices to improve operational efficiency.

Provide technical leadership and guidance, participating in architecture reviews and incident analysis.

Set KPIs and reporting standards for operational health and security posture.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent is required along with over 12 years of relevant experience.

Required Skills and Experience

8+ years in enterprise architecture or cloud architecture with a focus on large-scale systems.

Strong expertise with network devices and services, including routing, switching, and firewalls.

Robust cloud architecture experience with at least two major public cloud providers.

Hands-on experience designing observability stacks and SIEM integration.

Proven capacity to embed security in operational processes.

Experience with network automation and scripting tools.

Familiarity with incident management practices and systems.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Skills

A Master’s degree is preferred.

Relevant certifications such as TOGAF, AWS, Azure, or security credentials.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is USD $150,000.00 - USD $175,000.00 per year.
