Cloud Infrastructure Architect

Overview We are seeking an experienced Cloud Infrastructure Architect to lead the design, optimization, and day-to-day management of a modern Microsoft Azure environment. This individual will serve as the technical leader for cloud infrastructure initiatives while managing a small IT support and infrastructure team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a hands-on architecture position within a growing organization, balancing strategic cloud design with operational oversight. The environment is cloud-first, highly collaborative, and focused on scalability, security, and operational excellence. Responsibilities Design, implement, and maintain enterprise cloud infrastructure primarily within Microsoft Azure Develop and execute cloud architecture strategies that support business growth and scalability Lead a small team responsible for infrastructure operations, end-user support, and cloud administration Manage Azure networking, identity management, security controls, monitoring, and governance Partner with application, security, and business teams to align infrastructure solutions with organizational objectives Oversee cloud resource optimization, cost management, and performance improvements Establish and maintain infrastructure standards, documentation, and operational procedures Support cloud migration, modernization, and automation initiatives Implement Infrastructure-as-Code and automation best practices where appropriate Manage incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement efforts Utilize Jira and related tools to manage projects, workflows, and operational tasks Ensure infrastructure remains secure, compliant, and highly available Required Qualifications 7+ years of infrastructure engineering, cloud engineering, or cloud architecture experience Deep expertise with Microsoft Azure services and cloud-native infrastructure Strong understanding of Azure networking, virtual networks, firewalls, VPNs, load balancing, and connectivity Experience with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), identity management, and access controls Strong knowledge of cloud security, governance, and best practices Experience supporting Microsoft-based environments including Windows Server, Microsoft 365, and endpoint management Proven ability to lead infrastructure projects and mentor technical teams Experience working in cloud-first environments with minimal or no on-premises infrastructure Strong troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder management skills Preferred Qualifications Experience within small to mid-sized organizations (approximately 100–1,000 employees) Experience supporting rapidly growing technology, infrastructure, SaaS, or data center organizations Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or Bicep Experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automation frameworks Experience with Jira Service Management
