Collaboration Architect

About the role:

The Collaboration Architect is responsible for the architecture, design, governance and evolution of enterprise collaboration platforms that enable secure, scalable and reliable communication across the organization. This role sits within the IT Infrastructure organization and partners closely with Security, Identity, End-User Technology, Network and Application Development teams to ensure collaboration platforms are highly available, well governed, cost-effective and aligned with enterprise standards. This role sets strategic direction for collaboration technologies while staying closely connected to operational realities and platform lifecycle management.

What you’ll be doing:

Define and maintain the enterprise hybrid Microsoft 365 collaboration architecture, covering messaging, meetings, voice, content sharing and productivity servicesEstablish and maintain platform roadmaps aligned with business growth, security requirements and infrastructure strategyEvaluate new collaboration technologies and make recommendations on adoption, deprecation or consolidationDesign platforms that balance usability, reliability, scalability, security and cost efficiencyOwn end-to-end collaboration platform architecture, including identity and access integration, network dependencies, high availability and disaster recoveryPartner with infrastructure teams to ensure platforms meet enterprise standards for uptime, monitoring and supportabilityDefine and enforce governance standards related to usage policies, lifecycle management, retention and complianceCollaborate closely with Security and Identity teams to ensure secure authentication models, regulatory compliance and proper auditabilityEstablish guardrails that enable productivity while reducing risk and platform sprawlSupport operational models including support tiers, escalation paths and service ownershipLead initiatives focused on platform standardization, technical debt reduction and legacy tool rationalizationProvidearchitectural guidance during incidents, outages and significant service eventsAct as a technical authority and advisor to IT leadership and stakeholdersTranslate business collaboration needs into scalable, durable infrastructure designsMentor engineers and contribute to enterprise standards, patterns and best practices

What you need:

8+ years of IT experience with direct ownership of enterprise email and collaboration platformsStrong hands-on expertise with Microsoft 365 collaboration technologiesProven experience designing and supporting large-scale, highly available enterprise platformsDeep understanding of Exchange Hybrid architecture, mail routing, identity and access management, security and compliance controls and infrastructure fundamentalsAdvanced PowerShell scripting skillsExperience operating within large, complex enterprise environments

Preferred but not required:

Experience with collaboration platform governance, information lifecycle management and compliance modelsBackground partnering with legal, compliance and risk teamsExperience supporting enterprise architecture or platform modernization initiativesStrong written and verbal communication skillsExperience with Proofpoint email securityRelevant Microsoft certifications (MS-102, SC-300, MS-700, AZ-900)
