The Data and Analytics Architect is responsible for designing, managing, and optimizing data architecture on the Microsoft Azure Cloud platform.

What You Will Do

As a Team Lead, you are responsible for facilitating effective collaboration between onshore and offshore data architects, engineers and developers. This includes providing technical guidance to ensure high-quality deliverables, as well as managing and monitoring compliance with KPMG standards and industry regulations throughout all project phasesOversee the allocation and coordination of both onshore and offshore project resources by ensuring that team assignments align with project requirements, timelines, and skill setsDevelop comprehensive data architectures that align with business requirements, including data models, storage solutions, data pipelines, and analytics frameworks on the Azure platformArchitect, model, and document scalable data solutions using Databricks Unity Catalog and Microsoft Fabric, ensuring alignment with organization business strategyImplement robust governance frameworks, manage data lineage and access policies using Unity Catalog and Microsoft Fabric’s security features. Design and implement cloud-based solutions for structured, semi-structured, and unstructured dataUtilize Azure services like Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure Blob Storage, and more to build scalable and secure data solutionsDesign, develop, and maintain data integration workflows, ETL/ELT processes using Azure Data Factory or similar tools to ingest, transform, and load data from various sourcesDesign and enforce data access controls, encryption, masking, and other security measures to protect sensitive dataCollaborate with stakeholders to define data management strategies, including data retention, archiving, and backup solutionsWork closely with data engineers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and provide architectural guidanceCommunicate technical solutions effectively to non-technical stakeholders and ensure alignment with business goalsOptimize data storage, retrieval, and processing performance to enhance the efficiency and scalability of data solutionsProactively identify and resolve data-related issues, ensuring high availability and reliability of data servicesProvide guidance and mentorship to junior data architects, data engineers, and other team membersLead architectural discussions, code reviews, documentation and design sessions to promote best practices and high-quality solutionsContinuously evaluate and improve the data architecture and related processes, incorporating feedback, industry trends, and new technologies

What You Bring To The Role

As a Team Lead for the Enterprise Analytic Platform, you need to bring a strong strategic vision that aligns analytics initiatives with business goals. You should demonstrate leadership skills to foster collaboration, motivate your team, and drive results. Additionally, it’s essential to possess deep technical expertise in analytics, data management, and platform architecture, along with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersStrong knowledge of Microsoft Azure and cloud data services7 to 10 years of experience as an Architect in data Analytics domainExpertise in data modeling, database design, and data warehousingExperience with ETL/ELT processes, data integration, and data pipeline orchestrationProficiency in SQL, NoSQL, Python, Spark, and other relevant technologiesUnderstanding of data governance, security, and compliance requirementsExcellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skillsExperience in configuring and implementing Azure Storage, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL Server Data Warehouse and Azure SQL Server DBProven experience designing and managing solutions in Microsoft Fabric (including data lakes, data warehouses, and analytics services) and Databricks Unity CatalogGood understanding of AZURE components, storage & compute services Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools, such as Azure DevOps, Git, and CI/CD pipelines Experienced in Data modelling and data architecture designExperience with Data testing, including ability to create test plans, test cases, execute test cycles, etc. Experience is creating the efforts estimation, timelines for all new projects/programs Understanding of Azure networking fundamentals, including Virtual Networks (VNets), subnets, Azure Private Link, and ExpressRouteKnowledge of resource provisioning, management, and scaling using Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates or TerraformStay current with the latest Azure offerings and best practices for data architecture, storage, and analyticsExperience with data visualization tools such as Power BI for creating dashboards, reports, and analytics solutionsCertifications Holding relevant certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert considered an asset

This position requires written and oral fluency in English. The successful candidate will be required to support or collaborate with English-speaking colleagues or stakeholders nationally in our English speaking provinces while at KPMG.

KPMG BC Region Pay Range Information

The expected base salary range for this position is $105,000 to $156,600 and may be eligible for bonus awards. The determination of an applicant’s base salary within this range is based on the individual’s location, skills & competencies, and unique qualifications. In addition, KPMG offers a comprehensive and competitive Total Rewards program.

KPMG Ontario Region Pay Range Information

The expected base salary range for this position is $105,000 to $156,600 and may be eligible for bonus awards.
