Design Associate I

Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) is one of the largest privately held architecture and engineering firms in the Southeast, with offices located throughout Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Tennessee.

GMC has an opening for a Design Associate to support on-going projects in our Augusta, GA office. The Designer will be involved in all stages of design and construction and will assist project managers in producing documents and managing the projects. Applicant should be well organized and able to work within a design system, demonstrate ability to solve problems, a good communicator willing and able to network with outside consultants and AHJs to assist in driving the project.

Responsibilities

Performs Advanced knowledge of Autodesk AutoCADProficiency in Adobe Products/BluebeamMust be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environmentProficiency in Autodesk Revit is a plusExperience with architecture, engineering or construction drawingsAbility to think in a 3D environmentProficiency in MS Outlook, Word and Excel requiredAbility to effectively meet and accommodate deadlines on multiple projectsAbility to document as-built conditions in existing structures.Ability to work in a team environmentAbility to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in Architecture or equivalent from an accredited college preferredMinimum of 5+ years of technical and construction document production experience – retail experience preferredUnderstanding of building codes, construction methods, building systems, and engineering systemsWorking knowledge and practice skills of architectural product systemsWorking knowledge of A&E work standards, processes, and policiesDemonstrated ability to work under pressure, to manage deadlines and prioritize assignmentsUnderstanding of the tasks associated with the preparation of construction documents
