This is a rare chance to lead a studio. A design-driven landscape architecture practice is looking for a Director to take the reins of its Austin office — shaping the creative vision, building the team, and steering the business of a studio poised for real growth in Austin.
You'll have genuine ownership: the design direction is yours to set, the P&L is yours to run, and the team's growth and culture are yours to build. Expect to stay hands-on — sketching, reviewing details, walking sites — while also leading complex, multi-million-dollar projects from first concept through construction, across commercial, mixed-use, civic, hospitality, and multifamily work. You'll be the face of the studio with clients and partners, and a visible presence in the Austin design community.

Set design direction and lead delivery of large-scale, multi-million-dollar projectsBuild and mentor the design team; own hiring, performance, and career developmentManage studio financials — revenue, margins, utilization, and project budgetsLead client relationships and drive new business across marketsRepresent the firm at industry events and in the design community
Skills & Experience
13–15+ years in landscape architecture, with a track record leading major projectsPLA licensure requiredPrior experience managing a studio or team (hiring, mentorship, resourcing)Strong AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, Rhino, Lumion skillsA portfolio with a clear point of view — built work, awards, publications, or industry leadershipSolid financial acumen managing budgets and profitability
