Company: Altria Client Services Want to lead an Enterprise Architecture team and be accountable for the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of user-centered digital experiences across enterprise platforms and products for a Fortune 500 company where you'll take ownership from day one, working on real challenges that push you to grow and make an impact that lasts? We are currently looking for a Director, Enterprise Architecture to join our Enterprise Architecture & Infrastructure Operations Team in Richmond, VA, but are open to a remote work arrangement if you are willing to travel 25-30%. What you will be doing Leading and managing the Enterprise Architecture team, including hiring, performance management, coaching, and developmentDefining and driving the enterprise architecture vision, strategy, and multi-year roadmap aligned to business priorities and Enterprise Technology and Infrastructure & Operations strategiesAdvising, influencing, and providing input on architectural direction and priorities; final prioritization resides with the Senior Director, Infrastructure & OperationsEstablishing and enforcing enterprise architecture principles, standards, patterns, and governance practices (including Architecture Review Board participation)Overseeing the design of end-to-end enterprise solutions and user experiences across platforms supported by Infrastructure & Operations, ensuring scalability, usability, security, and operational sustainabilityPartnering with Infrastructure & Operations leaders, product owners, engineering teams, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into effective architecture and experience designsReviewing and approving architecture deliverables to ensure quality, consistency, accessibility, and alignment with enterprise standards and target-state architectureDriving alignment of IT investments with business capabilities through capability mapping, roadmaps, and portfolio optimizationLeading application rationalization, cloud adoption, modernization efforts, and reduction of technical debtDelivering impact assessments, cost/benefit analysis, and risk-informed recommendations to guide strategic technology decisionsEvaluating and adopting emerging technologies (e.g., cloud, AI, automation, data platforms) to enable innovation while maintaining governance and scalabilityDriving adoption of user-centered design practices, usability improvements, and continuous iteration in coordination with I&O delivery practicesCollaborating across security, data, integration, and infrastructure domains to ensure cohesive end-to-end architecture across the enterpriseManaging vendor and partner contributions related to architecture and experience design, aligned with governance standards We want you to have Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Design, or a related field (or equivalent experience)10+ years of experience in information technology, enterprise architecture, or digital experience design roles, along with 5+ years of people leadership experience managing architects or comparable technical teamsDemonstrated experience defining and executing enterprise-wide architecture strategies, roadmaps, and governance modelsProven experience delivering enterprise-scale digital platforms and solutions in partnership with infrastructure and delivery organizationsStrong understanding of architecture domains (cloud, application, integration, data, and security) and modern architectural patterns (cloud-native, API-led, event-driven)Experience with architecture governance practices, including standards, principles, and review boards (ARB)Experience with user-centered design and experience architecture methodologiesStrong collaboration with Infrastructure & Operations, engineering, and product teamsAbility to balance design quality with operational reliability, scalability, and delivery timelinesStrong business acumen with the ability to translate strategy into actionable architecture decisionsExcellent communication skills to distill complex technical concepts into clear, actionable guidance for senior stakeholders
