DIRECTOR OF LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE

Job Overview

Boral Engineering + Design, Inc. is seeking an experienced and motivated Director of Landscape Architecture to join our team in Southwest Florida. This individual will play an important role in leading landscape architecture and design efforts for residential and commercial land development projects.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of landscape architecture, Florida's natural environment, plant selection, ecological principles, and landscape construction methods. The successful candidate will have the ability to develop creative, sustainable, and functional landscape plans that meet regulatory requirements while enhancing the overall quality and design of development projects.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and oversee landscape architecture and landscape design projects for residential and commercial developments.
Prepare code-minimum and enhanced landscape plans that meet applicable local development regulations and project requirements.
Develop landscape design concepts and plans that incorporate appropriate plant selection, site conditions, ecological considerations, and construction methods.
Incorporate sustainable landscape practices and the use of native Florida plants into project designs.
Apply knowledge of horticulture, plant materials, and environmental principles to create functional and aesthetically pleasing outdoor spaces.
Coordinate landscape planning and design efforts with civil engineering and other project team members.
Prepare landscape plans, design exhibits, and construction documentation using applicable design software.
Ensure landscape plans comply with applicable zoning, land development codes, and regulatory requirements.
Provide guidance and oversight throughout the landscape design and development process.
Support project coordination, design reviews, and client communication to facilitate successful project delivery.

Qualifications & Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture.
Florida Landscape Architect license preferred.
Minimum of 4 years of Florida land development experience.
Strong knowledge of plant materials, ecology, horticulture, and landscape construction methods.
Experience implementing sustainable landscape practices and utilizing native Florida plants.
Demonstrated ability to prepare code-minimum and enhanced landscape plans for residential and commercial projects.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office applications.
Strong understanding of landscape design principles and applicable land development regulations.
Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative team environment.
Positive attitude, initiative, and a passion for landscape architecture and land development.

Requirements

Professional background in landscape architecture, with experience leading design projects and communicating with clients.
Proficiency with CAD (computer-aided design) software and graphic design software; relevant tools may include AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, Revit, SketchUp, Rhinoceros 3D, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Creative Suite.
Familiarity with GIS (geographic information systems), including ArcGIS or ArcView, for site analysis.
Skills in sustainable design, rendering, 3D modeling software, freehand sketches, hand-drawn illustration, and construction documentation.
Knowledge of horticulture, landscaping, hardscape, irrigation, landscape maintenance, construction estimating, land surveying, and civil engineering is valuable.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
