Overview
We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect to provide strategic technology leadership and architectural oversight for a large-scale enterprise ERP environment supporting HR, Payroll, Financial, Reporting, and related business systems.
This position will play a key role in defining enterprise technology strategy, guiding modernization initiatives, overseeing technical operations, and ensuring alignment between business objectives and technology solutions. The Enterprise Architect will collaborate with business stakeholders, technical teams, security personnel, vendors, and managed service providers to drive scalable, secure, and sustainable technology solutions.
The ideal candidate brings a combination of enterprise architecture expertise, ERP platform knowledge, operational leadership, vendor management experience, and strong communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Architecture & Strategy
Develop and maintain the long-term technology roadmap for enterprise applications, platforms, integrations, and data services.
Establish and enforce architecture standards, design principles, integration patterns, security requirements, and technical best practices.
Review proposed technical solutions to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture and avoid duplication or unnecessary complexity.
Provide architectural leadership for modernization initiatives, cloud adoption strategies, digital transformation efforts, and large-scale technology projects.
Identify and mitigate architectural risks related to scalability, integrations, security, performance, and legacy systems.
Collaborate with business leaders, functional teams, developers, security teams, solution architects, and vendors to ensure cohesive technology planning and execution.
Technical Operations Leadership
Provide leadership and oversight for enterprise technology operations.
Serve as the escalation point for complex technical issues and critical production support activities.
Coordinate technical activities across internal teams, external customers, vendors, and managed service providers.
Review technical deliverables and ensure adherence to architecture standards, operational procedures, and quality expectations.
Monitor project progress, team performance, and operational effectiveness while proactively resolving obstacles.
Support troubleshooting, testing, implementation, and production support activities as needed.
Prepare status updates, executive summaries, and productivity reports for leadership review.
Governance, Security & Compliance
Ensure enterprise solutions align with security requirements, audit standards, compliance obligations, and operational controls.
Participate in IT audits and control reviews.
Support disaster recovery planning, security planning, change management processes, and technology governance activities.
Maintain architecture, configuration, integration, and operational documentation.
Ensure digital products and content comply with WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards.
Vendor & Service Management
Provide oversight of managed service providers and outsourced technical teams.
Review service performance, technical deliverables, SLAs, and operational metrics.
Collaborate with vendors and stakeholders to improve service delivery and technology processes.
Support technology procurement efforts through technical research, requirements development, specification reviews, and solution evaluations.
Platform & Application Support
Support enterprise ERP environments and associated technologies.
Oversee software upgrades, platform enhancements, infrastructure improvements, and application lifecycle activities.
Support service desk operations, ticketing platforms, monitoring tools, and operational support processes.
Assist with reporting, analytics, performance metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Experience serving in a lead role with responsibility for managing outsourced technical teams and overseeing a Managed Services provider

Experience preparing materials for and conducting executive-level presentations

Experience performing technical project management activities in support of CPA’s CAPPS program

Experience in interpreting contractual language and integrating it into daily workflows, while consistently holding vendors accountable to contractual requirements

Extensive knowledge of/experience with data integration, data quality, and SDLC processes and methodologies

Experience in IT security and control practices

Technical experience with PeopleSoft FSCM or HCM 9.2, PeopleTools, Peoplecode, Application Designer, SQL, PS Query, SQR, Application Engine and Oracle 11 or higher

Experience with CAPPS Central production and deployment technical support activities for more than 100 agencies and 5 Hub instances

Experience with IT service desk functions, knowledge of ITIL framework methodologies and processes
