Formative Architecture is a dynamic and passionate team of architects, designers, and sustainability experts who bring a fresh perspective to every project and draw inspiration from the natural beauty of our home state, New Mexico. Our team members are well-rounded and involved in all aspects of a project, from marketing and proposals to client interaction, design, documentation, and construction administration.

We are seeking a full-time, design-oriented and experienced Architect / Architectural Associate to join our downtown Albuquerque studio. The ideal candidate will be ready to hit the ground running, offering quality written and verbal communication, learning new skills quickly, working collaboratively, and handling a wide range of assignments. These include, but are not limited to, supporting / managing various project types and sizes, coordinating design efforts including investigation, evaluation, and recommendation of design solutions, engaging with clients, managing the client’s budgets, schedules and programs. You will have opportunities to collaborate and assist with estimating fees, determining scope of work, and preparing proposals and contracts.

Required Qualifications

A professional degree in architecture from a NAAB accredited program or university10+ years of experience managing non-residential architecture projects, preferably in the public or institutional sectorMust be proficient in RevitActive architectural license in a U.S. stateMust have experience producing construction documents and specificationsMust have a working knowledge of building codes, standards, and constructionMust live in or near Albuquerque, NM

Job Responsibilities

Lead project design and project team through all phases of projectAbility to coordinate with internal team as well as subconsultants and clientsManage schedule and budget through all phases of projectDeliver high-quality documentation and coordination while ensuring compliance with all project requirements
