HCLA, as a practice, is unusual. By design, 100% of our clients are community-based. Our work is focused in two distinct realms: We balance the ardor and rigor of designing multi-family, supportive housing with wrap-around social services for those most in need (low-income families and seniors, transitional-aged youth, people with disabilities and those experiencing homelessness), with the exhilaration of designing transcendent and exquisitely detailed sacred spaces and their attendant uses, largely, though not exclusively, within the Jewish community. We are a team of 14 design professionals, nationally recognized for our human-centered, sustainable, mission-driven work. We are most distinguished as a civic-minded, community-oriented, award-winning practice.
