Insight Global is seeking a Solutions Architect to join one of our top Fortune 250 manufacturing clients. This is a senior, hands-on infrastructure role focused on the continued modernization, automation, and evolution of a large enterprise private cloud and data center environment.
This individual will help define infrastructure strategy, develop technical roadmaps, and design scalable, reliable solutions across a primarily VMware and Windows-based environment. The Solutions Architect will assess the current infrastructure, identify opportunities for modernization and automation, and provide technical leadership around virtualization, compute, storage, networking, and infrastructure platforms.
The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in enterprise infrastructure and VMware technologies and has progressed beyond day-to-day administration into engineering, architecture, technical leadership, or solution design. Candidates do not need experience with every technology in the environment, but should be comfortable learning new platforms and solving complex infrastructure challenges.
Key Responsibilities
Design scalable, resilient, and secure infrastructure and private cloud solutionsDevelop technical roadmaps and future-state architecture for enterprise infrastructure platformsEvaluate existing VMware and Windows environments and recommend modernization opportunitiesLead or support major infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and platform improvementsProvide architectural guidance across virtualization, compute, storage, networking, and related technologiesImprove operational efficiency through scripting, automation, and Infrastructure as Code practicesEstablish infrastructure standards, best practices, and reusable architectural patternsTroubleshoot complex infrastructure and virtualization issuesPartner with engineering, operations, security, application, and business teams to deliver enterprise solutionsEvaluate new technologies and recommend solutions based on scalability, reliability, security, and business requirementsServe as a technical leader and mentor to infrastructure engineering and operations teams
Required Skills & Experience
10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, systems engineering, virtualization, or related areasStrong experience supporting, engineering, or architecting VMware environmentsExperience with technologies such as vSphere, ESXi, and/or vCenterStrong experience with Windows Server and enterprise Windows environmentsExperience designing or implementing infrastructure solutions in large, complex environmentsHands-on experience with automation, scripting, or Infrastructure as CodeExperience with tools such as PowerShell, PowerCLI, Terraform, Ansible, VMware automation tools, or similar technologiesExperience leading or contributing to infrastructure upgrades, migrations, modernization initiatives, or technical roadmapsAbility to operate at both the architectural/design level and the hands-on technical levelBachelor's degree
