Intermediate Designer / Project Architect - Hospitality - NY

We are working with a highly regarded, award-winning architecture and interior design studio based in the Flatiron district of New York City who are currently seeking an Intermediate Designer / Project Architect.

This small, design-driven practice specialises primarily in hospitality environments — particularly restaurants — alongside hotel, student housing, and community projects. Their work combines strong conceptual thinking with technical precision, often involving complex NYC projects requiring deep engagement with building code, DOB processes, and construction delivery.

This is a genuine growth opportunity. The successful candidate will work directly alongside the Principal within a close-knit studio environment, gaining immediate responsibility, visibility, and a clear pathway toward senior project leadership.

The Role

• Contribute to design development, presentations, and material selection alongside studio leadership

• Produce and develop construction documentation, taking increasing ownership of drawing packages

• Support code research and compliance coordination, including DOB filing collaboration

• Assist with project scheduling and day-to-day coordination with clients, consultants, contractors, and vendors

• Participate in construction administration including RFIs, submittals, site visits, and punch lists

• Apply strong design judgement and attention to detail across all project stages

What We’re Looking For

• 3–5 years’ professional experience in architecture and/or interior design

• Hospitality project experience in NYC (restaurants, hotels or similar) highly desirable

• Working knowledge of NYC Building Code and DOB processes

• Strong construction documentation capability

• Proficiency in Rhino or SketchUp and AutoCAD

• Strong design sensibility and detailing skills

• Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple active projects

• Collaborative, proactive, and comfortable working within a small studio environment

• Ambition to grow into senior responsibility over time

• Currently based in the NYC area — this is an in-office position

Salary & Benefits

• $80,000–$95,000 salary depending on experience

• 2 weeks PTO plus major holidays
