Intern - Civil Engineer - Summer 2027

JOB SUMMARY: The Civil Engineer Intern will assist civil project design phases and work closely with Senior Civil Engineers.

JOB DUTIES:

* Review civil design schedule to align with target dates for deliverables.
* Observe project strategy meetings within discipline.
* Assist with site layout and design, grading, Storm water drainage, sanitary sewer design and erosion control design.
* Review flood studies.
* Review and assist with development of pavement and roadway design for industrial and commercial projects.
* Coordinate with various disciplines for seamless project execution.
* Interface directly with clients and external partners.
* Maintain Civil Design/ engineering standards and procedures.
* Comply with Company’s Quality Control and Project Management procedures.
* Develop and maintain relationships with employees at all locations.
* Promote a positive working environment in order to achieve the organization’s goals.
* Perform other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed in a Vestal Corporation office.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

* Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and able to operate a computer and other office equipment.
* Must be able to move about the office to access office equipment and other office buildings within the Vestal office complex.
* This position frequently communicates with others and must be able to exchange accurate information.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILL / ABILITY / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

* Working towards Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required.

* Familiar with AutoCAD and Civil 3D is strongly preferred.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.

* Requires effective time management skills, personal conduct, and change management abilities.
* Ability to effectively interact with co-workers, clients, vendors, and other business contacts.
