Lead 5G Network Architect

Our client, a pioneering telecommunications provider in Provo, Utah, US , is seeking a visionary Lead 5G Network Architect to spearhead the design and evolution of their next-generation wireless infrastructure. This is a critical on-site role demanding a deep understanding of 5G technologies, network virtualization, cloud-native architectures, and end-to-end network planning. You will be at the forefront of innovation, shaping the future of connectivity for millions of users. Your expertise will guide the technical direction of our 5G deployments, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:
Design and architect robust, scalable, and high-performance 5G core and radio access networks (RAN), including standalone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) deployments. Develop comprehensive network strategies and roadmaps, aligning with business objectives and emerging technology trends. Evaluate and select appropriate hardware, software, and service solutions from various vendors to meet network requirements. Lead the integration of new technologies and features into the existing network infrastructure, such as network function virtualization (NFV), software-defined networking (SDN), and edge computing. Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to define deployment plans, troubleshooting procedures, and performance monitoring strategies. Conduct in-depth performance analysis and capacity planning to ensure optimal network utilization and user experience. Develop and maintain detailed network architecture documentation, including diagrams, specifications, and configuration guidelines. Stay current with the latest advancements in 5G, LTE, IoT, and other relevant wireless technologies. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior network engineers and architects. Present technical proposals and findings to senior management and key stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Master's degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field. Minimum of 10 years of experience in telecommunications network design and architecture, with at least 5 years focused on 5G technologies. Extensive knowledge of 3GPP standards, 5G NR, 5G Core (AMF, SMF, UPF), and LTE technologies. Proven experience with network virtualization (NFV), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and cloud-native principles. Strong understanding of IP networking, routing protocols, and network security. Experience with RAN technologies, including small cells, macro cells, and distributed antenna systems (DAS). Familiarity with open RAN (O-RAN) concepts and architectures is a plus. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking abilities. Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
