Leading companies across various industries trust Teradata for improved performance and data integration.

Your Role

We are in search of a Lead Architect / Distinguished Engineer to spearhead the technical vision and architecture for our cloud platform, focusing on elasticity, scalability, and resilience. This pivotal position commands technical authority to drive innovation and guide organizational technology decisions, ensuring our platform adapts dynamically to meet evolving product demands.

The ideal candidate is an authority in cloud elasticity patterns, multi-cloud functionalities, and modern infrastructure architectures, possessing a thorough understanding of current market offerings and the limitations of cloud services.

The role requires a robust grasp of data platform architecture, particularly regarding scalability trade-offs. As our core platform progresses towards enhanced elastic computing, we aim to unlock greater scalability and elasticity. The candidate will evaluate architectural constraints, suggest strategic advances, and lead efforts to refine system elasticity through data-driven modifications.

Key Responsibilities

Craft and refine the architectural framework for a highly elastic, self-optimizing cloud platform.

Design frameworks supporting real-time autoscaling, predictive scaling, capacity forecasting, and cost-efficient elasticity.

Maintain in-depth knowledge of cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their offerings, including performance metrics and constraints.

Assess emerging technologies and solutions while identifying opportunities that align with our objectives.

Influence long-term engineering strategies, working closely with product, operations, and security teams to synchronize architectural decisions with business goals.

Guide and mentor senior technical leaders and engineering teams, promoting engineering excellence and best practices for cloud architecture.

Establish patterns for distributed systems to optimize resource utilization, reliability, and recovery from failures.

Focus on designing elasticity mechanisms that minimize resource wastage while preserving performance and customer experience.

Lead initiatives to create reference implementations and performance experiments to validate architectural choices.

Investigate platform constraints and collaborate with teams to devise alternatives or mitigation strategies.

Set standards and tools to ensure that elasticity features are observable, testable, and ready for production.

Who You Collaborate With

You will work alongside Product Management and platform operations teams to ensure scalable capabilities are smoothly integrated with deployment pipelines and monitoring tools.

What Makes You Stand Out

Over 10 years of experience in large-scale distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, or platform engineering.

A proven history of architecting elastic, high-scale systems across multiple regions or clouds.

In-depth knowledge of cloud service elasticity primitives and orchestration systems (Kubernetes, serverless, etc.).

Your Valuable Contributions

Expertise in hybrid and edge-cloud architectures.

Involvement in open-source cloud infrastructure projects.

Previous experience as a Distinguished or Principal Engineer in a cloud-native organization.
