Lead Architectural Designer - Sustainable Housing

Our client is seeking a visionary Lead Architectural Designer with a passion for sustainable design to spearhead innovative residential projects. This role requires a blend of creative talent, technical expertise, and leadership capability. You will be responsible for guiding design teams, developing conceptual designs, and ensuring the successful execution of projects from inception through completion. The focus will be on creating aesthetically pleasing, functional, and environmentally responsible living spaces that meet client needs and exceed industry standards.

Responsibilities:
Lead the design process for residential architecture projects, from concept development to construction documentation. Mentor and guide junior architects and design staff, fostering a collaborative and creative environment. Develop innovative and sustainable design solutions that align with client goals and project objectives. Prepare and present design proposals to clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies. Ensure compliance with building codes, zoning regulations, and sustainable design principles. Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and consultants to integrate building systems and materials. Oversee the production of detailed architectural drawings, specifications, and renderings. Conduct site analysis and feasibility studies for new projects. Manage project timelines and budgets related to design phases. Stay abreast of emerging architectural trends, materials, and technologies, particularly in green building.
The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture and possess a professional license (RA) in the state of Michigan, or have the ability to obtain one. A minimum of 8 years of progressive architectural experience, with a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in residential design and sustainable practices, is required. Proficiency in architectural software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite is essential. Excellent leadership, communication, and presentation skills are a must. This is an on-site position based in Grand Rapids, Michigan , requiring active participation in team meetings and client presentations.
