Lead Principal IAM Solutions Architect

As a Lead Principal IAM Solutions Architect, you will play a crucial role in shaping and refining the enterprise Identity and Access Management (IAM) architecture to meet the diverse needs of our business. You will collaborate with various teams to create scalable solutions across workforce identity, customer identity (CIAM), and partner ecosystems.

Your Responsibilities:

Define and enhance the enterprise IAM architecture in alignment with business requirements.Develop scalable reference architectures, build patterns, and standards for IAM implementations.Lead initiatives for Single Sign-On (SSO), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), passwordless authentication, and access model automation.Merge and map identities across systems to unify under a single platform instance.Work with Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) providers to gather requirements and ensure effective implementation.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver clean, secure, and scalable IAM implementations.Act as a lead point of contact for complex identity challenges, including legacy system retirements and federating identity platforms.Plan and lead implementation efforts for IAM solutions covering Okta, Azure AD (Entra ID), and additional supporting systems.Translate strategic priorities into actionable execution plans alongside the Director of IAM.Mentor IAM team members in real-world problem-solving and critical thinking.What You Bring to the Team:

Over 10 years of experience in IAM, security architecture, or engineering.A strong track record of serving as an IAM architect with successful, sustainable implementations.Deep expertise in OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), SAML, SCIM, LTI, and models for identity lifecycle and governance.Hands-on experience with IAM platforms such as Okta and Azure AD (MS Entra).Proven ability to execute API integrations within distributed systems and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, etc.).Experience with observability tools like Amplitude, Dynatrace, or Splunk to analyze usage patterns and improve architecture.Proficiency in designing enterprise IAM applications using Java and the Spring ecosystem, including Spring Boot-based UI and REST services.Preferred experience in programming with Node.js, TypeScript, React, and JAX-RS.Demonstrated leadership in managing the software development lifecycle (SDLC), including source control, CI/CD, and work management tools like JIRA.Ability to thrive in an Agile Project Management environment.Experience in EdTech, SaaS, or high-scale consumer settings, particularly in CIAM solutions, is a plus.Familiarity with Zero Trust Architecture and relevant certifications (CISSP, CISM, vendor-specific IAM) would be beneficial.Join us at Cengage Group, where we value your skills and offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that supports and empowers our employees.
