Michael Hsu Office of Architecture is an award-winning, fully integrated architecture and interior design practice with offices in Austin and Houston. This position is ideal for a designer who is ready to take ownership of meaningful portions of a project while continuing to grow their technical, design, and project leadership skills. Contributing to the design and delivery of projects across a variety of scales, typologies, and phases of designDeveloping design concepts and translating them into coordinated drawings, models, details, and construction documentsPreparing project documentation, specifications, and presentation materials in collaboration with project teamsCoordinating with consultants and internal team members to maintain project alignment and documentation qualitySupporting construction administration efforts, including responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and assisting with field observationsTaking ownership of assigned portions of a project while proactively communicating progress, questions, and potential coordination issuesContributing to technical problem-solving and design discussions throughout the life of a projectParticipating on multiple concurrent projects in various capacities 3+ years of professional experience in architecture, including design and construction document production for commercial, hospitality, or residential projectsBachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture from an accredited universityAbility to commute to our Austin, TX office a minimum of three days per weekProficiency in Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and AutoCADWorking knowledge of architectural practice, including design, documentation, detailing, building materials, building codes, and construction technologiesDemonstrated design ability and a strong portfolio of academic and professional workStrong technical skills, creative problem-solving abilities, and attention to detailExcellent verbal, written, and graphic communication skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities and contribute effectively across multiple projects simultaneouslyPositive attitude, intellectual curiosity, and willingness to collaborate within a team environment Remain stationary and work at a computer workstation for extended periods throughout the workdayFrequently operate a computer and other standard office equipment.Communicate effectively with clients, consultants, contractors, vendors, and team members in person, by phone, and electronicallyTravel to project sites, client meetings, construction sites, and vendor locations as neededMove throughout active construction sites, existing buildings, project sites, and showroom environments, which may include walking, standing, climbing stairs, bending, reaching, and navigating uneven surfacesObserve and assess project conditions, construction progress, design details, and installed workOccasionally transport project materials, samples, presentation materials, or equipment weighing up to 25 poundsVisually review drawings, specifications, project documentation, and digital design tools for extended periods
