Network Planning Architect

Segra is excited to welcome an experienced Network Planning Architect to our team in a full-time capacity.

Role Overview:

As the Network Planning Architect, you will engage in strategic planning and execution of complex technical tasks related to network infrastructure. This role involves analyzing, designing, developing, and modifying network equipment and facilities tailored for specific markets or regions. You will also provide consulting and technical guidance to engineering colleagues, including OSP Planners, Network Planners, and Network Engineers. Working alongside Program Management, you will help ensure that projects initiated from the Planning group are seamlessly implemented. Your tasks will include performing cost studies, project estimates, and reviewing project documentation for accuracy.

Other key responsibilities include:

Supporting product development initiatives. Evaluating fiber assets. Reviewing and recommending vendor network equipment. Planning network expansion. Documenting and recommending procedures and policies. Achieving company and departmental goals and objectives. Collaborating with Enterprise/Carrier sales teams and Engineers on opportunities. Participating in cost reduction planning. Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent work experience.

Experience:

At least 6 years of experience in network engineering, planning, or operations within a fiber-based telecommunications environment. In-depth knowledge of telecommunications industry practices and standards, including OSP, network engineering principles, and technical facility design. Strong familiarity with SONET, DWDM, ROADM, Carrier Ethernet, Switching and Routing, and related support systems. Aptitude for analyzing existing networks to generate effective, cost-efficient growth solutions and addressing complex customer needs. Ability to develop creative, standards-based solutions for network expansion. Proficient in Microsoft Visio, Word, Excel, and mapping software such as Google Earth. Experience working with vendors such as Ciena, GDT, Cisco, and Nokia. Solid understanding of Layer 1 and Layer 2 technologies, with a foundational knowledge of Layer 3 technologies. Key Competencies: Strong ability to define, evaluate, solve, and present alternatives to complex engineering challenges.

Salary Range: $100,065 - $135,000
