Principal Architect - Sustainable Building Design

Responsibilities:
Lead the architectural design process from conception through construction administration for high-profile projects. Develop and champion sustainable design strategies, integrating principles of energy efficiency, renewable energy, and resource conservation. Mentor and guide junior architects and design staff, fostering a collaborative and creative studio environment. Engage directly with clients to understand their vision, needs, and project objectives, building strong relationships. Oversee the preparation of design documents, specifications, and construction administration services. Ensure projects adhere to relevant building codes, zoning regulations, and sustainability standards (e.g., LEED, WELL). Collaborate effectively with engineers, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project delivery. Conduct design reviews and provide critical feedback to maintain design integrity and quality. Represent the firm in client meetings, public presentations, and industry events. Contribute to business development efforts, including proposal writing and client relationship management. Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in sustainable architecture and construction. Qualifications:
Professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch) from an accredited institution. NCARB certification and a valid license to practice architecture in Alabama (or eligibility for reciprocity). Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in architectural practice, with a significant focus on leading complex projects. Demonstrated expertise in sustainable design principles and relevant certification (e.g., LEED AP). Proven track record of successful project delivery, from design concept to completion. Strong portfolio showcasing a range of successful, high-quality architectural projects, preferably with a sustainable focus. Proficiency in architectural design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and rendering programs. Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
