Coates Design Architects SEATTLE, Washington $80,000–$85,000 a year

Mid-Level Project Architect

About the Opportunity

We're seeking an accomplished Design Architect with 5+ years of professional experience to join our collaborative practice. This is an ideal role for someone ready to deepen their design expertise, lead on meaningful projects, and grow within a thoughtful, mission-driven firm.

The Role

As a Design Architect, you'll take on expanded responsibility across the full spectrum of our practice; from concept development and schematic design through documents and construction administration. You'll develop detailed architectural solutions, and contribute to the firm's strategic design direction. This position balances hands-on design work with technical leadership, giving you the opportunity to sharpen both your creative and technical skills.

Your day-to-day work will include:

· Developing and refining design concepts in response to client needs and site constraints

· Creating comprehensive construction documents and specifications

· Managing project workflows and coordinating across disciplinary teams

· Contributing to client presentations and design proposals

· Providing constructive feedback and mentorship to junior staff

· Staying current with building code standards and emerging design trends

Who We're Looking For

You have genuine passion for architectural excellence and a track record of delivering thoughtful, buildable design. You're detail-oriented without getting lost in minutiae, and you can articulate design ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences. Your portfolio demonstrates a range of project types and scales. You're energized by collaborative work and see mentorship as a key part of professional growth.

Ideal candidates will have:

· 5+ years of experience in an architecture practice

· Strong proficiency with Revit

· Demonstrated ability to work through design problems systematically

· Solid understanding of building codes, construction methods, and material applications

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

· A genuine interest in sustainability and responsible design practices
