Russell + Lopes Architects LLP (RLA) is seeking an experienced Project Manager with extensive California healthcare and HCAi (formerly OSHPD) experience to join our growing practice. This is a remote position, however candidates must be based in the San Francisco Bay Area to support site visits, client coordination, and regulatory processes.
About The Role
The Project Manager will lead complex healthcare projects from planning through construction administration, with a strong emphasis on HCAi compliance, regulatory coordination, and consultant management. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, leadership, and the ability to operate independently within a collaborative design team.
Minimum Qualifications
12–15 years of professional architectural project experience8–10 years of direct HCAi (OSHPD) healthcare project experienceProven experience managing California hospital and acute care projectsStrong working knowledge of:HCAi submittals and approvalsIOR coordination and construction phase requirementsHealthcare building codes (CBC, CAN, NFPA, FGI)Experience leading multidisciplinary consultant teamsAbility to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
Key Responsibilities
Serve as Project Manager for healthcare projects subject to HCAi review and approvalLead project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and consultant coordinationManage regulatory submittals and responses with HCAi and AHJsOversee quality control of project documentation across all phasesParticipate in construction administration, including RFIs, submittals, ASIs, and site observationsCoordinate with owners, contractors, inspectors, and regulatory agenciesProvide mentorship and guidance to junior staff
Preferred Qualifications
Licensed Architect in California (or ability to obtain licensure)Experience working in remote or hybrid team environmentsStrong written and verbal communication skillsProficiency in Revit and healthcare documentation standards
Work Environment
