Role Description The Security Operations Center (SOC) Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing the SOC environment to support effective monitoring, detection, and response to security incidents. This full-time, hybrid role is based in Worcester, MA, with the flexibility to work from home for part of the schedule. Day-to-day responsibilities include defining SOC architecture and workflows, selecting and integrating security tools, and establishing data flows and logging strategies across systems and networks. The SOC Architect collaborates with security engineers, analysts, and IT teams to develop use cases, playbooks, and automation that improve detection and response capabilities. The role also involves reviewing system performance, driving continuous improvement, contributing to security policies and standards, and mentoring team members on best practices for SOC design and operations.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong System Architecture skills, with experience designing end-to-end SOC environments, integrating SIEM, EDR, SOAR, and related security tools.Candidates should possess Hardware Architecture and Physical Design skills, including understanding of server, storage, and network infrastructure that supports high-availability and secure SOC operations.Candidates should possess RTL Design and Power Management skills, or equivalent expertise in designing efficient, scalable hardware or virtualized environments for demanding security workloads.Candidates should possess a solid foundation in security operations, including incident response, threat detection, log analysis, and creation of SOC runbooks and use cases.Relevant skills such as knowledge of security frameworks (e.g., NIST, MITRE ATT&CK), experience with cloud platforms, and familiarity with automation and scripting (e.g., Python, PowerShell) are beneficial.A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, is preferred.Strong communication, documentation, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment and across multidisciplinary teams.Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, GSEC, GCIA, CCSP, or similar) are a plus.
