Position Overview — Senior Architect:

The Senior Architect leads corporate interiors projects from pursuit through construction completion as the accountable design and technical authority. The Senior Architect runs projects — managing project-specific budgets, schedules, workload, and staffing with Principal-level support — and provides senior-level leadership on complex Principal-led projects. Scope spans the full arc of practice: predesign, programming, visioning, spatial planning, materials, detailing, lighting, and coordination of code requirements and building systems (structural, MEP, etc.), through construction administration.

This is a project leadership and management role opportunities for firm leadership responsibilities. Where our Intermediate staff own and deliver their work, the Senior Architect is accountable for project outcomes — project profitability, client relationships, the quality of everything their teams issue, and the growth of the staff assigned to them. The position communicates and collaborates closely with firm leadership, clients, staff, consultants, vendors, and contractors, and is a platform for growth toward Associate Principal. We rely on our team members to be agile and flexible, humble but driven, with a client-focused mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

• Project Design Leadership: Set and defend the design vision from visioning and programming through construction, producing conceptual and fully executed designs with strong creative ideas — out-of-the-box preferred!

• Technical Authority: Own code and life-safety compliance, building-systems coordination, QC of all team drawing sets, agency approvals, and construction administration

• Project Management Leadership: Day-to-day ownership managing project-specific budget, schedule, workload, and staffing with Principal-level support, across multiple clients and concurrent projects

• Client & Business Development: Steward long-term relationships into repeat work, and lead proposals, pursuits, and interviews

• Team Development: Mentor and direct junior and intermediate staff, run their performance check-ins, and lead in-house design and technical training

Requirements:

• 8 years minimum professional experience with a focus on Corporate Interiors, including demonstrated experience leading project teams, fees, and schedules

• CA Architectural License in active standing (or on track to complete)

• Proficiency in Revit; proficiency in Enscape, renderings, CAD, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Excel, MS Office tools, and Bluebeam Revu

• Deep working knowledge of CBC, life-safety, and building systems coordination (structural, MEP)

• Proven client-facing experience: presentations, relationship management, and business development participation

• Track record of mentoring and directing the work of other design staff

• Equivalent to graduation from an accredited five-year college (B-Arch) or university with major coursework in architectural design
