Senior Architect for Federal Projects

Moffatt & Nichol, in collaboration with Waggonner & Ball, a Moffatt & Nichol Studio, is on the lookout for a talented Senior Architect with over 15 years of experience to lead and enhance our Federal architectural projects! As a key member of our Norfolk office (with the option to work from Richmond, VA; Washington, DC; Baltimore, MD; or Raleigh, NC), you will spearhead design, development, and execution of large-scale military facilities as part of the US Navy's Shipyard Infrastructure Optimization Program (SIOP). You will play a vital role in our Mid-Atlantic architectural team's growth and will be pivotal in delivering high-value projects ranging from $10 million to over $500 million in construction costs. Your responsibilities will include: Leading the planning, design, and construction of military facilities in adherence to Department of Defense (DoD) standards.Collaborating with design studios across the organization.Managing cross-disciplinary teams, including architects, engineers, subconsultants, and government stakeholders.Overseeing project lifecycle from inception through construction and commissioning.Ensuring compliance with federal regulations and best practices.Defining operational requirements with government clients.Reviewing design documents and monitoring project financials.Conducting site assessments and feasibility studies.Implementing quality assurance to maintain project integrity and performance.Leading risk assessments for secure environments.Mentoring junior staff and contributing to team development.Working with senior management to grow our local architectural team.This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Architecture (Master's preferred), a Registered Architecture (RA) license, and a minimum of 15 years of facility design and construction experience, including at least 5 years in military or federal projects.
