Job Description

Join us as a Senior Architect to transform one of our most vital cloud platform services—a robust workflow orchestration engine designed to manage the creation of cloud resources across various domains like compute, storage, and networking.

Every time a customer provisions a resource in our cloud environment, numerous distributed operations are executed simultaneously to ensure reliability and consistency. Our Workflow platform seamlessly orchestrates these transactions, guaranteeing successful resource provisioning while providing automated failure recovery and rollback features.

This platform currently handles tens of billions of transactions annually and is essential for our cloud infrastructure. As cloud adoption continues to grow, we are in the process of developing the next generation of this system to achieve even higher performance, scalability, resiliency, and support for multiple tenants.

This is a unique opportunity to define the architecture of a foundational cloud service that will significantly influence the future of our cloud solutions.

Responsibilities

Lead the architectural vision and technical strategy for the next-generation workflow orchestration platform. Design scalable distributed systems capable of managing billions of high-throughput transactions. Collaborate with engineering leaders across Compute, Storage, Networking, and other areas to build a platform that meets the diverse needs of the cloud ecosystem. Drive architectural decisions emphasizing consistency, fault tolerance, transaction management, durability, and performance. Mentor senior engineers and provide technical leadership in our rapidly expanding organization. Assess emerging technologies to identify opportunities where custom platform innovation can provide a strategic advantage. Required Qualifications:

Extensive experience in designing and building large-scale distributed systems. Strong expertise in high-performance backend architecture, distributed transactions, concurrency, and fault-tolerant systems. Experience in developing or enhancing foundational infrastructure platforms that operate at cloud scale. Demonstrated ability to influence architectural decisions across multiple engineering teams and organizations. Proven technical leadership in complex, mission-critical systems. Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with workflow orchestration platforms or distributed workflow engines. Familiarity with write-ahead logging (WAL), storage engines, transaction processing, or database internals. Experience with high-throughput messaging, event-driven architectures, or distributed coordination systems. Background in hyperscale cloud infrastructure or similar large-scale distributed platforms. Compensation and Benefits:

We offer a competitive hiring range from $169,800 to $355,400 per annum, with potential bonuses, equity, and deferred compensation.
