We strive for design excellence and total integration among all design disciplines. Your role as senior building designer is to lead an integrated design team through project design process working closely with Project Manager or Project Architect under the direction of Principal in Charge. You will be the key design advocate to achieve the highest design quality possible for the projects, accountable to regional design leaders. You will be the design voice during all aspects of the project process from validation/pre-design through construction administration and close-out. Depending on the size of the projects, you may be asked to take on more than one project at a time.

Conceptualizes a building design from both a functional and aesthetic perspective in concert with a client's requirements, budget, and program.

Develops design through sketches, physical models, electronic models, diagrams, massing studies, and other visual formats to express the design intent and communicate to project team, client, and building user groups.

Knowledge of BIM technologies in development of three-dimensional models of buildings and their components to achieve design approval.

Promote and follow the office's Design Framework. Presents the design to stakeholders during early project phases. Develops building design in accordance with cost parameters.

Evaluates and selects building systems and materials.

Coordinates building systems to ensure compatibility with the design intent.

Analyzes site incorporating geotechnical, hydrological, environmental, social, economic, and contextual conditions.

To participate in project team setting.

To check work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage team to meet project budget and schedule.

To interpret sketches, drawings, codes, building program and other similar material.

To apply accessibility codes, applicable building codes, and life-safety codes to a wide variety of project scopes and complexity.

To produce and deliver design and documentation in highly collaborative BIM strategy.

General knowledge of building construction systems, constructability, materials, and industry associated standards.

Understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, Newforma

Bachelor's degree in architecture or related field

Hybrid office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Field work may include exposure to active construction sites.

At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
