Senior Architect / Project Architect

JAAX is a design-driven architecture studio based in downtown Los Angeles. We place equal weight on design intent and constructability. We are seeking a Senior Architect / Project Architect to take a leading technical and organizational role within the studio. This position is intended for someone who has direct experience delivering complex projects in Los Angeles or Southern California, and can operate with a high degree of autonomy. Lead the development of complex architectural projects from design development through construction documentation and construction administration.Direct and mentor project teams by providing clear instructions, redlines, and sketch details for others to execute in Revit.Develop, detail, and coordinate architectural systems for Type I buildings, including structure, envelope, life-safety, vertical circulation, and MEP integration.Oversee drawing quality, coordination, and consistency across large and multi-consultant drawing sets.Coordinate closely with structural, MEP, civil, façade, and specialty consultants.Manage and support permit submittals and agency reviews with Los Angeles–area AHJs and jurisdictions across Southern California.Review RFIs, submittals, and construction issues, ensuring alignment with design intent, code requirements, and constructability.Contribute to internal standards, detailing approaches, and technical workflows within the office.
