Our client is seeking a visionary Senior Architect with a specialization in Urban Design to join their prestigious architecture firm in Detroit, Michigan, US . This role is pivotal in shaping the future of urban environments, focusing on the conceptualization and execution of large-scale urban development projects, master plans, and public realm designs. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional design talent, a deep understanding of urban planning principles, and a proven ability to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from inception through completion.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the design and development of comprehensive urban master plans, site plans, and revitalization strategies for complex urban projects. Create innovative and contextually appropriate architectural and urban design solutions that enhance the public realm and foster vibrant communities. Collaborate closely with clients, city planners, engineers, landscape architects, and other stakeholders to achieve project goals. Oversee design development, ensuring adherence to architectural standards, building codes, zoning regulations, and sustainability principles. Develop and present design concepts and proposals to clients, review boards, and the public. Manage project teams, timelines, and budgets effectively, ensuring high-quality design outcomes. Conduct site analysis, feasibility studies, and community engagement processes. Stay abreast of cutting-edge urban design trends, innovative materials, and sustainable development practices. Mentor junior architects and designers, fostering a collaborative and creative studio environment. Ensure the integration of transportation, infrastructure, and open space planning within urban designs.
Qualifications:
Master's degree in Architecture or Urban Planning with a strong architectural design focus. Licensed Architect (RA) in the State of Michigan or eligible for reciprocity. Minimum of 8 years of experience in architectural design, with a significant emphasis on urban design and large-scale master planning. Demonstrated portfolio showcasing successful urban design projects, mixed-use developments, and public space design. Proficiency in architectural design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp) and visualization tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Rhino, Lumion). Strong understanding of urban planning principles, zoning laws, and regulatory processes. Excellent leadership, communication, collaboration, and presentation skills. Experience in community engagement and public participation processes. Knowledge of sustainable design practices and green building certifications (e.g., LEED). Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet demanding deadlines.
