Senior Architect/Project Manager

Job Overview

Our client is an award winning architecture firm whose work has been recognized regionally, statewide, nationally, and internationally. Their portfolio includes federal and civic facilities, university campuses, museums and visitor centers, and commercial projects, much of it in settings where design quality and public accountability carry equal weight.

They are seeking an experienced licensed Project Manager to lead projects from programming through construction close out. This is a role with genuine ownership. You will work directly with the firm's principals, manage the consultant team, and serve as the primary point of contact for the owner. The practice is established enough to offer a substantial project list and long standing client relationships, and small enough that your judgment carries real weight.

Responsibilities

Lead projects through programming, design, construction documents, and construction administration
Manage project scope, schedule, staffing, and fee performance, reporting to the principal in charge
Coordinate and direct the consultant team, including structural, MEP, civil, and specialty disciplines
Perform quality control on drawings and specifications for coordination, constructability, and code compliance
Serve as the primary owner contact, maintaining clear and well documented communication
Manage construction administration, including submittals, RFIs, site observation, and punch list
Guide projects through permitting and agency review
Mentor project architects and designers

Work Arrangement

This is a remote position based in Houston. Travel to project sites averages approximately 5 percent, with occasional heavier periods when a project reaches a critical milestone.

Required Qualifications

Professional degree in Architecture from an accredited program
Current architectural registration in Texas, or registration in another state with the ability to obtain Texas reciprocity
Minimum 10 years of professional practice, including projects carried through construction completion
Proficiency in Revit and Bluebeam
Strong working knowledge of building codes, accessibility standards, specifications, and detailing
Demonstrated construction administration experience
Excellent written and verbal communication, and the self direction a remote role requires

Preferred Qualifications

Government or public sector experience, including federal agencies, state, municipal work, or public higher education
Familiarity with design excellence review processes
LEED accreditation or high performance building design experience
