Senior Architectural Designer - Sustainable Design

Our client, a forward-thinking architectural firm located in Huntsville, Alabama, US , is seeking a talented Senior Architectural Designer with a specialization in Sustainable Design. This role is integral to our firm's commitment to creating environmentally responsible and innovative architectural solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a strong design sensibility, a deep understanding of sustainable building practices, and expertise in leading design phases from conceptualization through to project documentation. You will collaborate closely with clients, engineers, and consultants to integrate sustainable principles into every aspect of the design process.

Key responsibilities include: leading the conceptualization and development of architectural designs with a strong focus on sustainability, energy efficiency, and occupant well-being; producing high-quality design presentations, renderings, and construction documents; ensuring designs meet relevant building codes, zoning regulations, and sustainability certifications (e.g., LEED, WELL); collaborating with engineering disciplines to integrate sustainable systems (HVAC, lighting, water management) effectively; managing design schedules and deliverables; coordinating with clients to understand their vision and translate it into sustainable design solutions; mentoring junior designers and providing technical guidance; staying abreast of the latest trends and technologies in sustainable architecture and materials; and contributing to the firm's reputation for innovative and environmentally conscious design. This role requires a balance of creative vision, technical proficiency, and a passion for green building.

Qualifications:Professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch) from an accredited institution. Registered Architect (RA) or Architect license is highly preferred. Minimum of 7 years of architectural design experience, with a significant focus on sustainable design principles and projects. Demonstrated expertise in LEED accreditation, WELL Building Standard, or similar green building frameworks. Proficiency in architectural design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and rendering programs (e.g., Enscape, Lumion). Strong understanding of building science, energy modeling, and sustainable materials. Excellent visual communication, presentation, and client management skills. Proven ability to lead design teams and manage project phases. Knowledge of construction methods and materials related to sustainable building. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
