Senior Architectural Designer

Our client, a renowned architectural firm with a rich portfolio of award-winning projects, is seeking a highly talented and experienced Senior Architectural Designer to join their vibrant team in Detroit, Michigan . This role is integral to the design and development process, working on diverse and challenging projects ranging from urban revitalization to institutional and commercial spaces. You will be responsible for leading design concepts, developing detailed architectural drawings, and collaborating closely with project teams and clients.

Key Responsibilities: Lead the conceptual design development for various architectural projects, ensuring innovative and contextually appropriate solutions. Produce high-quality architectural drawings, including floor plans, elevations, sections, and detail drawings, using industry-standard software. Collaborate closely with Project Architects and Project Managers throughout the design and construction administration phases. Coordinate with engineering consultants (structural, MEP, civil) to integrate their designs into the overall architectural plan. Develop 3D models and renderings for client presentations and design reviews. Ensure design compliance with building codes, zoning regulations, and accessibility standards. Conduct site analysis and feasibility studies for new projects. Review shop drawings and submittals during the construction phase. Mentor and guide junior designers and drafters, fostering a collaborative and creative team environment. Stay abreast of current architectural trends, materials, and sustainable design practices. Prepare specifications and other construction documentation. This position requires a creative individual with exceptional design sensibility, strong technical skills, and the ability to translate abstract ideas into tangible architectural solutions. You will be an essential part of shaping the built environment in Detroit and beyond.

Qualifications: Professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch). Registered Architect (RA) or NCARB certification is highly preferred. Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in architectural design, with a portfolio showcasing a range of project types. Proficiency in architectural design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and rendering programs (e.g., 3ds Max, Lumion). Strong understanding of building codes, zoning laws, and construction methods. Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to lead design efforts and mentor junior staff. Experience with sustainable design principles and LEED certification is a plus. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
