We're a Design-Build General Contractor focused on the design and construction of community clubhouses and amenities. Since 2004, our Design Division has been creating the plans, from conceptual drawings to the construction documents, for National Builders throughout North Carolina and South Carolina. Working closely with the Design Division, our Build Division has built hundreds of Amenity Centers from Greensboro, NC to Wilmington and we are quickly expanding.
Architectural Designer
We are seeking an Architectural Designer to work with our clients and lead a Design team from Concept to Construction Documents. This role coordinates with our external engineering and architectural partners and our internal construction team to produce full sets of construction documents.
As an Architectural Designer at D. Clugston, you will work directly with the Build department as the construction of the project commences giving you real-time feedback to your design efforts.
About the Role
The ideal candidate is highly proficient in Revit, experienced in BIM 360, understands applicable building codes, and is comfortable leading a small team while coordinating with engineering consultants, including civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing.
Responsibilities
Lead assigned projects through design development and construction documentationManage the preparation and coordination of commercial construction documents across all project phasesCoordinate drawings and project information among architectural and engineering disciplines, including civil consultantsUse Revit and BIM 360 to support model management, document coordination, and interdisciplinary collaborationReview work for quality, completeness, constructability, and code complianceApply strong knowledge of building codes, accessibility requirements, and jurisdictional coordinationDirect and mentor a team of designers, providing guidance, delegation, and reviewCoordinate project schedules, consultant deliverables, and internal team deadlinesMaintain clear communication among team members, consultants, clients, and leadershipIdentify conflicts early and drive resolution across disciplines using Revit, BIM 360, and drawing review processesGuide technical execution while balancing design intent, constructability, and code complianceSupport efficient, organized, and high-quality project delivery
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in architecture preferredStrong proficiency in RevitWorking knowledge of BIM 360 for project collaboration, file sharing, and consultant coordinationDemonstrated experience producing and coordinating commercial construction documentsSolid understanding of building codesExperience working with multidisciplinary engineering teamsStrong verbal and written communication skillsProven ability to organize work, lead a small team, and keep projects movingExperience in design-build delivery is preferred, but not required
