This is a crucial on-site role requiring extensive experience in designing complex healthcare projects from schematic design through construction administration. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of healthcare design principles, building codes, and the specific needs of medical facilities and their occupants. You will lead design efforts, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with clients and consultants to deliver exceptional architectural solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the architectural design process for healthcare projects, including programming, schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration. Develop innovative and functional design concepts that meet client requirements, regulatory standards, and project budgets. Produce high-quality architectural drawings, renderings, and presentations using advanced design software. Collaborate closely with clients, medical staff, consultants (structural, MEP, civil), and regulatory agencies throughout the design and construction phases. Ensure compliance with healthcare-specific codes, standards (e.g., FGI Guidelines, ADA), and best practices. Conduct site analyses and feasibility studies for new healthcare projects. Mentor and guide junior architectural designers and technicians, fostering their professional development. Review contractor submittals and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) during construction. Manage project timelines and deliverables for design phases. Stay current with advancements in healthcare design trends, materials, and technologies.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture. Professional Architect License (RA) in the state of Wisconsin or ability to obtain reciprocity. Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in architectural design, with a significant focus on healthcare facilities. Demonstrated expertise in the design of hospitals, clinics, or medical centers. Proficiency in industry-standard architectural software such as Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite. Strong knowledge of building codes, zoning regulations, and accessibility standards relevant to healthcare projects. Excellent conceptual design, visualization, and presentation skills. Proven ability to lead project teams and manage client relationships effectively. Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities. Experience in navigating complex regulatory approval processes for healthcare facilities. LEED accreditation or experience with sustainable design practices is a plus.
