Senior Architectural Designer - Sustainable Urbanism

Our client, a renowned architectural firm celebrated for its innovative and sustainable designs, is seeking a highly creative and experienced Senior Architectural Designer to contribute to landmark projects in Grand Rapids, Michigan, US . This role focuses on conceptualizing and developing design solutions that integrate sustainable practices, urban planning principles, and cutting-edge architectural aesthetics. The ideal candidate will possess a strong portfolio showcasing award-winning projects, exceptional design talent, and a deep understanding of sustainable building technologies and materials. You will lead design development, collaborate with project teams, and mentor junior designers, ensuring the highest standards of design excellence and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities include:
Lead the conceptualization and development of architectural designs for complex urban projects, with a strong emphasis on sustainability. Translate client needs and project requirements into innovative and aesthetically compelling design solutions. Produce high-quality design documentation, including sketches, renderings, 3D models, and presentations. Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, consultants, and clients throughout the design process. Mentor and guide junior architectural staff, fostering their professional growth and design skills. Research and integrate sustainable design strategies, materials, and technologies into projects. Ensure compliance with building codes, zoning regulations, and accessibility standards. Conduct site analysis and feasibility studies for new projects. Stay current with architectural trends, software advancements, and building science innovations. Participate in client meetings and presentations to articulate design concepts and rationale.
Qualifications:
Master's degree in Architecture or a related field. 7+ years of professional experience in architectural design, with a significant focus on urban development and sustainable projects. A strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional design talent, creativity, and a proven ability to execute complex projects. Proficiency in architectural design software, including Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and rendering programs (e.g., V-Ray, Lumion). In-depth knowledge of sustainable design principles (e.g., LEED, WELL) and relevant technologies. Excellent understanding of building codes, zoning laws, and construction methodologies. Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and manage multiple project priorities. Professional Architect (RA) license is highly preferred.
