Based in Provo, Utah, US , this role is critical for ensuring the structural integrity, energy efficiency, and long-term durability of our projects. You will focus on the design, detailing, specification, and quality control of building envelope systems, including facades, roofing, windows, and insulation. You will work closely with architects and project managers, providing expert technical guidance throughout the design and construction phases. Key Responsibilities Lead the design, detailing, and specification of building envelope systems for various architectural projects. Conduct thorough analysis of materials, systems, and assemblies for performance, durability, and constructability. Develop detailed drawings and specifications for facades, roofing, waterproofing, and fenestration. Collaborate with architects and engineers to integrate envelope designs with overall project goals. Perform quality control reviews of shop drawings, submittals, and mock-ups related to the building envelope. Conduct site observations and investigations to assess the performance and condition of existing or new envelope systems. Ensure compliance with building codes, energy efficiency standards, and industry best practices related to building envelopes. Research and evaluate new materials, technologies, and systems for potential application. Provide technical support and expertise to project teams during design and construction. Assist in the preparation of reports, specifications, and presentations related to building envelope performance. Requirements Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Architectural Technology, Construction Science, or a related field. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience as an Architectural Technologist or similar role, with a specialization in building envelopes. In-depth knowledge of building envelope principles, materials science, and construction techniques. Proficiency in architectural drafting and modeling software, such as AutoCAD and Revit. Strong understanding of building codes, energy codes (e.g., IECC), and performance standards (e.g., ASTM, AAMA). Experience with performance testing, diagnostics, and failure analysis of building envelopes. Excellent technical documentation and specification writing skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate within a team. Previous experience with construction administration related to building envelopes is advantageous.
