US Citizens OnlyRole OverviewBlinkly is seeking a Senior Azure AI Knowledge Platform Architect / Lead Engineer to design and help deliver a custom web-based knowledge platform for a government customer. The platform will centralize agency knowledge, ingest documents from approved sources, support natural-language querying, return source-traceable answers, integrate with enterprise SSO, and deploy into an Azure-based environment. This is not a staff-augmentation role. We need a hands-on technical leader who can own the architecture, guide implementation, communicate with customer stakeholders. What You’ll DoServe as technical lead / solution architect / key personnel for a government knowledge-platform .Design a secure, scalable, custom web application hosted in Microsoft Azure.Architect document ingestion and indexing workflows for PDF, Word, Excel, SharePoint, shared drives, email archives, and web-based content.Design a retrieval-augmented generation or semantic search approach that produces source-traceable responses from approved knowledge sources only.Define the technical architecture across front end, back end, data flow, ingestion/indexing, query processing, security, access control, and deployment.Support integration with enterprise SSO / identity providers.Design role-based access control, administrative dashboards, user activity tracking, usage analytics, and audit-friendly system behavior.Support testing, performance validation, UAT, production deployment, documentation, training, and post-go-live stabilization.Required Qualifications7+ years of software engineering, cloud architecture, enterprise application development, or related technical delivery experience.Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure.Experience designing or building search, knowledge-management, AI assistant, RAG, semantic search, document intelligence, or enterprise content retrieval systems.Experience with web application architecture, APIs, databases, authentication, deployment pipelines, and production operations.Familiarity with Azure services such as Azure App Service, Azure Kubernetes Service, Azure Functions, Azure AI Search, Azure Blob Storage, Azure SQL/PostgreSQL, Azure OpenAI, Azure Document Intelligence, Azure Key Vault, Azure Monitor, or similar services.Experience with document ingestion, metadata extraction, indexing, chunking, versioning, and lifecycle management.Ability to design systems that support source traceability, access controls, auditability, and data governance.Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to explain architecture to technical and non-technical stakeholders.Ability to work in a lean team and take ownership across architecture, implementation, and delivery.Preferred QualificationsPrior government, public-sector, defense, municipal, or regulated-industry delivery experience.Experience with state/local government, DoD, or enterprise security/compliance environments.Experience integrating with SharePoint, Microsoft Graph, Entra ID / Azure AD, SAML, OAuth/OIDC, or enterprise SSO.Experience with Azure-native AI/search tools, vector databases, LLM orchestration, prompt evaluation, citation pipelines, or grounding workflows.Experience with DevSecOps, CI/CD, IaC, Terraform/Bicep, automated testing, security scanning, and production release management.Security clearance or ability to support cleared/public-sector work is a plus but not required.
