Senior Director of Design Engineering - AI/ML Systems Architect

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Director of Design Engineering, specializing in AI/ML Systems Architecture. In this role, you'll play a pivotal part in defining the architecture of our next-generation AI systems, leading technology research, and working closely with our design teams in the AI/ML infrastructure domain. While the focus will be primarily on hardware, a deep understanding of AI systems design—including training and inference workloads and performance requirements—is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the definition and implementation of complex AI/ML infrastructure platform solutions, ensuring high design quality throughout the engineering validation testing (EVT) phase. Develop strong technical relationships with suppliers and partners to align on product roadmaps and emerging technologies. Oversee the technical aspects of requests for quotation (RFQ) responses and drive Celestica's platform concept development initiatives. Provide insightful trade-off analyses and competitive guidance to engineering teams and clients. Produce key deliverables including System Requirements Documents (SRD), compliance assessments, and technical proposals. Act as the main technical liaison between Celestica and our clients, especially during technical escalations. Support business development initiatives by providing technical insights to secure new projects. Participate in the recruitment and selection of design team resources to enhance team capabilities. Identify and advocate for process improvement opportunities as necessary. Engage in industry standards committees and professional groups as required. Prepare and deliver technical presentations to clients, industry associations, and at trade shows. Stay updated on industry trends and technological advancements to capitalize on future market opportunities. Qualifications

Demonstrated success in architecting and launching server, storage, and converged product solutions to market. Exceptional presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage with major OEM customers on product issues and new design concepts. Comprehensive knowledge of both digital and analog components is required. Proven track record in New Product Introduction (NPI) processes. Expertise in system-level integration, including power, cooling, mechanical, software/firmware, and electrical engineering trade-offs. Participation in industry groups and associations is highly desirable. Experience in system-level integration, interoperability, and testing is advantageous. Familiarity with system-level manufacturing testing is a plus. Travel Requirements

Expect to travel internationally approximately 4-6 times per year. Domestic travel may be required to support customer and internal meetings. Experience Requirements

A minimum of 15 years of experience in server or AI/ML accelerator hardware design. At least 5 years of experience in designing AI infrastructure systems. Experience with Nvidia, AMD, Intel, or similar modern GPU accelerators and related technologies is essential. Education Requirements

A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering is required; a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) is preferred. Advanced studies in Business, Operations, or Technology are recommended. Additional Information
