We are in search of a visionary and technically skilled Senior Principal Architect to spearhead the architectural evolution of Lumen Connect. The aim is to significantly enhance the quality and availability of our digital platform. This role merges profound technical knowledge with exceptional program management and communication abilities, leading to scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions on AWS.

You will play a critical role in shaping how Lumen integrates cutting-edge technologies and services to automate software deployment and application lifecycle management. Your passion for software automation and quality will be a top priority.

The position will also involve working closely with various stakeholders throughout the engineering organization—including product owners, developers, and testers—to design, develop, and implement solutions that deliver exceptional user experiences while optimizing business and technical processes.

Main Responsibilities

Architecture & AI Develop a modern architectural approach for Lumen Connect, focusing on enhancing legacy systems for scalability, reliability, and performance. Collaborate with diverse teams to architect a data-driven backend that boosts response times and reliability, facilitating faster and more agile development and enhancing AI performance in codebases. Lead the architecture for new, innovative network products, creating a cloud-native digital experience that aligns with customer expectations. Utilize AI to analyze extensive codebases and suggest improvements. Enhance global ecosystem documentation to enable AI agents in developing larger features efficiently with guidance from various teams. Assist the team in drafting technical specifications for high-level portal architecture. Project & Program Management Guide cross-functional projects from concept through delivery, ensuring alignment with business objectives. Create and manage detailed project plans, timelines, and resource distribution. Stakeholder Engagement Serve as a technical liaison between engineering, product, business units, and external partners. Conduct regular updates, demos, and reviews to maintain transparency and alignment. Cloud Strategy & Governance Drive cloud adoption and modernization strategies leveraging AWS services. Ensure adherence to security, cost, and operational governance policies. Collaborate with DevOps and SRE teams to weave reliability and observability into architectural choices. Continuous Improvement Identify areas for performance enhancement, cost reduction, and technical debt resolution. Encourage a culture of innovation, automation, and lifelong learning. Mentor junior engineers and engage in knowledge-sharing efforts. What We Seek in a Candidate

Required Qualifications:

12+ years in the field with a bachelor’s degree; or 8+ years with a master’s degree. Extensive knowledge of AWS services and experience with cloud-native designs in AWS/Azure/GCP. Proven expertise in software architecture, cloud engineering, and managing technical programs involving multiple stakeholders. Proficiency in application development with Java Microservices and the Spring Boot framework. Experience in developing REST APIs using microservices architecture. Familiarity with RDBMS such as Oracle, MySQL, SQL and NoSQL databases. Experience in CI/CD implementation, preferably with GitHub or Jenkins. Knowledge of deploying applications on Kubernetes/Docker. Understanding of web design and markup languages such as HTML and CSS. Experience in front-end development using JavaScript/TypeScript and frameworks like VueJS. Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in developing applications using Confluent Kafka. Proficiency in GraphQL. Development expertise in Python. Experience with Agile/SCRUM methodologies. Relevant certifications in AWS Architecture or Project Management. Compensation

The anticipated base salary for this position varies by location. Individual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, and other relevant factors.

Location Based Pay Ranges:

$152,066 - $202,755 in various states.

$159,670 - $212,893 in select states.

$167,273 - $223,031 in other states.
