Our Seattle studio has a rooftop, no private offices, and founders who sit at the same table as everyone else. We design churches and Christian schools that feel like they were actually built for the people who use them — and we need someone who can carry that work from a first sketch to a ribbon-cutting, coordinating the messy middle of permits, budgets and subcontractors without losing sight of why the project matters.
The role
You'll lead a small architecture and design studio in Seattle, owning design deliverables from concept through construction administration. That means running several projects at once, keeping engineers and consultants aligned, and steering projects through land use and local jurisdiction requirements that can make or break a timeline. You'll sketch, model and present so clients can see the idea before it's real.
What you'll do
Carry a project from an early sketch through construction documents and into the field, making the calls that keep it moving
Lead a small studio team, delegating real ownership rather than just assignments
Flag risk before it becomes a crisis — plainly, and early enough to fix it
Keep Project Engineers and Sub-Consultants pulling in the same direction
Push projects through land use and jurisdictional approval, chasing down what a permit office needs before it's asked twice
Get out of the office and onto the site — travel included — to make sure what's built matches what was drawn
What you bring
Bachelor's or Master's degree in architecture or a building-related discipline
10+ years of commercial or architectural design experience
Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe CS and SketchUp; strong 3D modeling and visualization
Sketching ability: concepts, elevations and perspectives
Working knowledge of architectural drawing standards, commercial construction, building codes, ADA and permitting
Pursuing licensure (preferred, not required); educational-space experience (a plus)
What to expect
This is a demanding operational leadership role. You'll be the one accountable when a deadline slips or a permit stalls, working under Risepointe's existing design and executive leadership rather than setting the firm's direction.
45+ hours a week, Monday to Friday, with availability for occasional events and meetings, plus site visits with travel — about twice a month, mainly up and down the West Coast. In return: a tight, hard-working, fun team that respects family and recreation time, and company-wide gatherings each summer and at Christmas.
